Burundi’s population is predominantly young, offering a unique opportunity to drive inclusive economic growth. However, this massive potential remains largely unexplored due to systemic barriers in education and employment.
Today, many young people leave school without the specialized skills required for the modern labor market. Others face limited access to professional opportunities, resulting in widespread unemployment and economic vulnerability. While unemployment statistics often underestimate the reality, the truth is that a majority of young people are forced into the informal sector without stability, financial resources, or prospects for growth.
Despite these challenges, Burundi is incredibly rich in creative talent. Young people actively engage in arts, culture, and entrepreneurship, demonstrating deep resilience and innovation.
At Isanamu Yawe, we believe that with the right support—targeted skills development programs, access to professional platforms, and dedicated mentorship—these raw talents can be transformed into sustainable livelihoods.
